I can work from any~ SPN-era, been watching since the pilot premiered, operate certain pre-series headcanon based from the comics, the novels, and the ridiculous excess of fan-books I've accumulated like some freaky hoarder. Down for AU's including er, canon? AU's such as Dean Smith, Endverse!, so on, so forth, blah blah.
I'm hella easy-going, so don't be afraid to ask for my discord or PM for plotty-plotty.

I AM 21+ ; and while I do smut occasionally, it's generally following some longer development between the muses so no skipping, y'know, actually meeting Dean before getting the D(ean). Name's rue and I also play this big lug here.

B, here's some of the basics:
THE ROAD SO FAR:
As a child, Dean's mother was murdered by a demon in what official reports would claim to be a house-fire, yet his father witnessed the supernatural event first-hand. Grief-stricken and exposed to the dark unknown, John Winchester - his father - sought revenge against the murderer, dragging his two sons along for the journey. Over time, it would become clear to him that his wife's murder is connected to his youngest son - Dean's baby brother, Sam Winchester. Due to the nature of pursuing monsters, John often leaves Sam in a young Dean's care which forces him to assume adult responsibilities far earlier than healthy for anyone, hammered so deeply that it becomes the foundation of his identity.
Family. Revenge. "The job" -- The Family Business, ie hunting.
Years pass moving from state to state, accumulating supernatural knowledge, learning basic combat and survival skills, then later weapons' safety. In the process of chasing the entity responsible for his mom's death, they save lives and destroy these bloodthirsty monster. Quickly, traditional academics and, well, generally anyone deemed civilian come second to the reality that most humans will never experience. And they're better for it.
As a result, Dean ridicules book smarts and relationships that exist outside of his family, largely forming superficial bonds while clutching at his father and brother for belonging. For this reason, he becomes a perfect second-hand to his father, arguably an extension of the man when he's absent so that he may as well be Sam's secondary parent. To drive this point home? When Sam first walks, he moves toward Dean instead of John, and this is echoed throughout this upbringing especially when the youngest Winchester hits puberty and begins rebelling.
His form of rebellion is unusual. Instead of drugs and vandalism, he fights back via aligning himself with civilian society, acing subjects, pursuing "normal" hobbies and friendships, and otherwise rejecting their insulation. It comes to a head when he leaves for college, breaking ties with Dean and John, and truly shattering Dean's identity which will be a continued tear between the brothers for years upon years. Of course, they would eventually be dragged back together through yet another tragedy --with Sam, once more, at Ground Zero of the demon's activity.
